Work in Progress

Phone Development. Not the best charcter on here because it looks a little too simple to me, but it does show some simple steps

Preperation for Crit

Finished Characters and the 'Nearly' Finished display stand. Still not happy with it so it'll see some more development through this week to get it looking more relevant against what I've seen in my context.

It had gotten a little tatty after the crit but you can get the idea from it. Feedback was good but I'm still unsure on scale of print. Does it even need to be printed to scale? Probably not.

The Whole Idea - Break Down For Crit

Because my DP blog isnt all up to date I'll just sumarise the breif and what I'm trying to gain. All of the DC is up to date btw :)

The brief is for Cargo home furninising and appliance stores. The company is proposed to be wanting a fresh rebrand which is going to hit a much younger audience which they currently do not achieve. The use of blending character design with the appliances is essential as the company requests.

The outcomes of this will be a renewel of the company logo (NO PROGRESS YET)
Range of characters to be used -
In store signage
Leaflet Stand
Catalouge Cover
Prints to wrap around POS

The main outcome which is an A0+ 3D staggered promotional install. This is intended to be used in some of the larger flagship stortes as a high impact stand to promote and celebrate the re brand. If I'm not describing it very well take a look at this, exactly the kinda thing I'm looking to gain:

Linky

If you look through some of my other primary research as well, I found that the most effective type of retail design is raised off the wall slightly and not cut in standard A sizes. It appealed to me and inspired the direction of this piece of work.

The version I'm wanting to do will work over 4 layers. The image will be staggered much like when you have a group photograph taken with the largest on the back row (probably just the one image of the washing machine), second largest items (Toaster and Kettle) on row two and so on.

The other briefs I havent even started yet which isn't going to help with feedback but I've just been working on this breif alone for now :/

Charcters So Far...

These are some of the final images so far but if you look at the layout sketch, I've still got around another ten to go.

Layout Confirmed.. for now

For now I'm using this as a basic guide to map out my work. It's basically just a good template to get me started on the final composition. The image on the right is all scans from my sketches which I've played around with for a bit. Helpful because I did'nt know if most of the images would work together at first.
